What should you confirm when buying cold-rolled steel?
A clear specification is the starting point for a useful sourcing conversation. Prepare the following information before requesting a quote.
Grade and standard
State the complete grade and applicable standard. Confirm any proposed substitution separately; similar names do not establish equivalence.
Dimensions and form
Specify sheet or coil, thickness and width. For sheets, include length. List any special tolerances separately.
Surface and delivery condition
Include surface, oiling, packing and downstream processing requirements. Confirm properties against the applicable standard, order agreement and inspection documents.
Quantity and delivery
Provide quantity and unit, destination and required timing so supply and transport arrangements can be discussed.
